Turtle Tom- Both of these antibiotics are only available from a licensed vet with a prescription. You can treat a small turtle for only 10 or 20 dollars worth of antibiotic (not including the vet fees). Sometimes there isn't a huge difference in price because you need smaller doses of Amakacin, which is more expensive. Even if you get your hands on any of this stuff, you should really consult a good herp vet if you've never used it before. One, you can easily kill some species of turtles with high doses. Two, you need to learn (and see) how to inject a turtle. --Maxx P.S. I don't interpret both vet visits as contradictory. Just like humans, more than one compound can often be used to treat the same species of bacteria.
