Jeff-- Both of those compounds are broad spectrum antibiotics and both are great products. I've used both at various times. The dosing is a lot different for both of them. Baytril is a lot less expensive but you have to use more of it for a longer period of time. If they want to be really scientific about this whole thing, if your vet can somehow obtain a mucus sample with bacteria in it, there are very inexpensive labs tests that can be done which determine what antibiotics the bacteria are susceptible to. I've run across bacteria that are resistent to either one (or both) at various times in my turtle experience. If I was a betting man, however, I'd guess that either one would work. --Maxx
