You can dry dock him for quite a while without problems. This will help him kill the fungal infection. He will be fine completely unaffected by being left out for several hours. My sliders spend the entire day in the Summer basking and only dip into the water again when the sun the gets to hot. It is not unusual to see them basking for 4-5 hours at a clip so its fine.
