If you had a side drain tube at the one end, and used a pump to push the water up from there around the tank to the other end and return it, you could run it through any filter you wanted and let it return to the system to create a slow small current and have a pretty natural bog with some effort. The idea is simple, but I don't know anyone who's done it but them. Placing this outdoors in a good location would work.
You could also modify this idea if you wanted a bog in your pen, using a liner to make the bin. Personally I am going with the "choking it with plants to fake a swamp/bog effect" because it's easy to toss in hyacinths and some other plants and let them go hog wild and choke up the water nicely on their own.
