:I took my common snapper (5.7 lbs) to the vet for a possible respritory infection (whistling when breathing). The vet was very nice and seemed to know what she was talking about. She prescribed a treatment that I've never heard of and just wanted to see if anyone here had any comments. I am to inject 25ml of Ceftazadime into one of the front legs every 3 days. She said I should give 18 injections. That seems like a lot of injections to me but I figure she knows a lot more than I do. Has anyone heard of this medication? What about the number of injections? I asked her about Baytril and she told me this medication "knocked out more stuff" and was easier on the muscles.

This sounds like a good course of medication. She is right about baytril it is a PAINFUL injection for the turtle to endure.
