Found a snake

I was wondering if someone can help me identify a snake I found on my backporch last night. It is just a baby 4 -5 inches. It looks like a corn. It has a greyish background with brown circular patterns with a black border surrounding the brown spots.I have him in an aquarium but will release him today or tomorrow. I just wanted to identify it before I let it go. I am located in Hopewell if anyone wants to check it out or take it. I know the people on this forum are responsible so if someone wants it they can take it.
