Like most other species, if it calls it's a male. While there are some silent males and females may sometimes call if distressed, generally calling is the best indicator. There is little sexual dimorphism in most species except that females tend to be larger, but there is enough variation within local populations and individuals that this is not a trustworthy indicator of gender.
