Hey, I've never posted here before, but there's a first for everything. I don't really have an alternative method, but next time that you buy a house gecko to do this, or use a frog (only for scenting, not feeding) you can freeze the dead body. Although it seems quite grotesque, you can add a little warm water every time that you take it out of the freezer, and roll the pinkie around in the mush. This should be good for a little bit, but don't use the same frozen gecko for too long.

There's another alternative that you may try too. If you buy an anole, or house gecko, or even if you keep geckos, you can take a shed from them, add a few drops of water, and roll the pinkie around in that.

These are the few methods that I've used succcessfully for Isabel Island Ground Boas (Candoia Carinata). I've never had the same scenario for Amazons, but good luck.
