I have spent anywhere from $250 to $400 for solid red amazons myself. It depends on the purity and/or deepness of red hue. Solid red males are a bit more rare thus more pricey.
Careful though, solid red babies can end up turning pumpkin orange and "dirty up" a bit (acquire more black spotting)as they grow (which is also a cool morph, but not worth as much on the market as solid reds).
Adult or subadult reds tend to keep their colors more consistently. Sometimes it all comes down to how bad you want the animal, thus how much you are willing to pay. Red amazons tend to be snatched up quickly so one must sometimes act fast and pay the asking price, otherwise someone else will jump on it soon!!
