::I have an old display case that measures 60"x24"x30" (LxWxH) Flipped it up on end to push it into a closet and got an idea for an enclosure for my ETB. He is about 4" long right now and very tame. I know that ETBs like vertically oriented cages so I was wondering if this cage (on end) would make an adequate enclosure. Essentially it would measure 30" wide X 24" deep X 60" high. Ideally I would like a cage that would be probably twice as wide but for now I don't have one and I don't think he needs one that big just yet. right now he spends 90% of his time on the top branch of his current cage and I am afraid that if I move him into a very tall cage most of it will go unused. However, if this is an adequate size cage for a full grown male ETB I could see myself giving this cage a full makeover so that even if he only uses a small portion of the cage the rest will look nice anyway.

::Thanks

:Hi,

:The size is fine, but you have to consider what the required humidity and misting would do to it. Also ventilation is an issue. You'll find care sheets at my website www.thedarkgrove.com and more care information at www.corallus.com. plenty to read about from the Animal itself to caging. I think that container is a good idea but you didn't mention if it will "hold up" to the requirements of the animals enviromental needs. If they were as easy as a kingsnake to keep then everybody would have one.......

Ralph,

thanks for the response, I'll definately check out your site. The case is glass on two sides, screen on one and wood on the other which I would replace with either screen or glass. I figured it would stand up but thanks for the pointers. I was mainly concerned about the size, I was worried that it might be too tall and not wide enough even though I know they like the height.

Steve

:Good luck
