the hibernation box in basically a box full of dirt. with gravel on the bottom for drainage. and hay on the top. I'll have to look up the exact dimentions needed. they have to be fairly large to keep the boxie from freezing. I put mine in a root cellar, so it didn't need to be as deep as they usally are. When it starts getting cold they will burrow down in the box.once they come out in the spring you can put them in a fenced in enclosure. I recomend burying the bottom of the fence at least a foot (preferablly 2) They are good diggers! The main difference between box turtles & tortoises is that boxies eat more animal matter than veggies.
