Hey Teepee - on that shell coloring thing?

On that shell coloring thing (dark - light depending on sun exposure) do they adapt really quickly? My sulcata is going from an hour of supervised outside time to his own outdoor habitat. it will have plenty of shade but I can see him hitting a spot of sun and staying there most of the day! can he get overexposed? should he start off with a few hours out and work his way up.... or am I being silly and the more he can be outside the better.
