They can't even stay outside in most places in the USA in the
winter and are a challenge to keep indoors beginning at even
10 pounds or so, nobody will get to wait till they're grown
to start having challenges. However since they are very cute
and cheap as hatchlings, most people will ignore this problem.
Sulcatas are not a problem as long as they're the size of
small box turtles. It's kind of like iguanas, they're like
small lizards in ten gallon tanks, and unless they happen to
die off (which they mostly did), nobody plans to have one
5-6 ft. long. Thus they, like sulcatas are considered
"throw-away" pets.
