what kind of potting soil for substrate?

I believe Niki posted awhile back to use a mixture of potting soil and sand to my 'kiddie pool' for my sulcata. What kind of potting soil? Can I use regular dirt but mix something in it? I'm finally getting all the rock from my backyard and replacing it with grass. Until I build something better and more permanent, Piper is only 7 months old, I got some chicken wire to cover the top of the 5 1/2 foot kiddie pool. Need to know exactly what kind of soil and other mixture to put as substrate.
