Tortoise (and lizard) Etiquette

When my mom came to visit, one of my suitemates decided she'd like to show off to my mom how friendly she was with my uromastyx, ginger. She picked up my lizard and was telling my mom all about how she helps watch her--by thrashing her in the air and shaking the poor baby up. My mom was in shock and so was I, she's never been allowed to handle her again.

I haven't had a problem with people handling my tortoises, I think cause they know I'll kick their butt if they are mean to my babies.
