Maybe Niki you could just rip up all the carpets or whatever in your house and plant grass in every room. Then Teddy can just graze inside when he runs out of grass outside. Ok, really, I don't feed mazuri to my tortoises because they are still small and I can get enough stuff to feed them but I can see the need once tortoises get bigger. I live in New England and there just aren't many months you can put the tortoises outside and the supermarket has a very poor selection of greens lately (and I've tried 3). I'm not even talking how expensive it would get, there just isn't enough to buy. I worked at a zoo for a few years and in the winter when the torts couldn't be outside to graze we fed mazuri along with greens to leopards, red foots, yellow foots and radiateds and all had very smooth growth. In my opinion the mazuri just adds a little extra food to the selection as well as a way to ensure the torts are getting some balance to their diet since it is formulated for nutritional balance. Everyone has their own way of doing things but I don't see anything wrong with mazuri as long as there is variety to the diet, and I don't think anyone here feeds it as the only food source.
