Redfoot Tortoise...

Hi,

I just got an adult redfoot tortoise! I am so pleased because I always wanted a large tortoise. (I'm so used to keeping box turtles) I always wanted one that was large enough for me to hold in my arms.
Anyway, I put him outside to get some sun and he was making all sorts of noises. It sort of sounded like a breathing problem, or like sneezing perhaps...but his mouth remained closed.
Could he have been making the "clucking" sound they make when they want to find a mate?
What do you all think?!
(if someone could explain how to on this forum, I could post lots of lovely digital pictures of this gorgeous creature)
