The males ram the females then when she's ready, she'll allow him to breed. You can hear that "thumping" from the banging of the shells from a distance. Make sure he does not ram her constantly.

:HI , I currently had 1 adult male and 1 adult female Golden greek tortise. From what I had read about breeding torts, is that you should seperate the male from the female for a whil;e then reintroduce them together. Well I had my male seperated from teh female for about 3 1/2 months. I also just got another adult female golden greek, that has been in quarentine for a little over a month and was also de-wormed. I just put the 3 of them together in a new enclosure about 5 feet long, by 3 feet wide. Thsi is temporary until I can put them outside dependant on the weather. What are the signs if any that the male would be interested in breeding?? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Matt
