Lizards are OK as snacks, as are an occasional goldfish. Mice are the best (and cheapest) "primary" food source. Frozen mice are about a quarter each if you buy by the hundred. Just remember, you need to give that red his fruit variety too. Mango's, kiwi, oranges, etc. Most reds love bananas. Feed fruit at least every 2-3 days. Even if he won't eat it, leave it for the rest of the day. He'll soon figure out that that is all he's going to get. Hope this helps.

:well i heard no to feed goldfish to my red, now i tryed an anole which i caught in my house, and dropped it in the tank, she devoured it! she has a taste for lizards. Now will it have the same nutritional value of a goldfish(0), or is there something there?
