I think yours is at a particularly vulnerable time being that you just got him, he might be perceiving the change of a light cycle as a change in season. They naturally do hibernate not that long after birth (they are born in July here in the states like Berts outdoor babes). Mine started to hibernate in September. If yours is still eating allot I don't think he's anywhere near hibernation. I just thought I'd throw that out there since you are digging him up everyday and it might not be that easy to know if he wants to hibernate sometime in the future. Not all tegus hibernate and I sure hope mine don't again. When he looses his appetite that's when to start sulking.
