Check your humidity. I've found Exoterra Jungle Earth to be better than cypress chips. I change water daily or every other day. On the second or third day I dump the water dish into the substrate. This maintains 55 to 75% humidity in my 30 gallon long tank. Be sure you check all the toes. Mine had shed on its tail when I got it. I didn't catch it until it went through a shed cycle. When I increased the humidity and measured it the problem shed came right off.
