Hi,
I bought a new baby Colombian Black and White Tegu this past weekend at a Reptile Show. He's in GREAT health, has all toes and is bright eyed and bushy tailed, well, his dinner is! (Kidding) I brought him home and set him up in his new cage and when he was out basking the other day, I noticed an odd behavior. Whenever he's just sitting still, like basking, his whole body quivers. He doesn't do it when he's sleeping or when hes moving around. I thought it might be because he was cold, so the other day I brought him outside in his cage and set him in the sun, it was about 70F out and he was basking and eating fine, but when he'd stop moving, he'd just shake, his toes, his abdomen and his neck. It doesn't inhibit his moving about, but its just odd. I also noticed that he has trouble swallowing. I gave him some water out of a dropper last night and he drank eagerly and then sat with his mouth gaping before he regurgitated all the water. He was wiping his head all over the cage, trying to get the water out. I stroked his chin down his neck to his stomach and it seemed to help him better, but he did the same thing when I tried to feed him. He eventually gets all the food/water down, but its kind of nerve racking to watch him struggle like that. Does anyone have any ideas what the problems might be or how I might fix it?
Any advice would be great!
Kris
