I got a juvenile Colombian gold about a year ago, and he used to bite me at least every few days. It was usually just a quick nip & release with a superficial scratch.
The worst bite was when he latched head-on to my thumb and ripped up both sides. It didn't go through to the bone like NASA's, but it took a while to heal.
A lot patience and many bandaids later, he doesn't bite anymore. He's still quite aggressive, but no longer thinks hand = danger (or food!)
:How much would it hurt to get bitten by my 1 foot long tegu. Ive been bitten by a savannah monitor a little bigger than the tegu and it didn't hurt at all, just left a little pin hole on the underside of my thumb. Ive heard tegus have a little harder of a bite though and more teeth also. Im trying to tame him and just wondering how careful i should be. he's just a little snot how much damage could he do? thanks, -Nick
