Zones of integradation are areas where individuals show characteristics of both races or are intermediate with both races. Again, I don't know how his hypothesis has changed since I spoke with him last on the subject, but if what troy says is correct, I would think that this would be a reasonable hypothesis. Although, I would think that captive breeding could demonstrate the pattern of inheritance that would reflect the current ratios of pattern types in this area and would be as convincing as any other evidence in supporting this hypothesis.
