Was just reading a post on the kingsnake forum about the changes that were made to L. getulus in the 80s (changing getulus to getula as well as changing several subspecies epithets).
Was that based on Lampropeltis being feminine or neutral?
If the former situation, why did triangulum survive (instead of being changed to triangula)?
If the latter, why wasn't getulus changed to getulum?
Am I getting my languages screwed up?
To be honest, I forget a lot of my latin (those Jesuits would be very disappointed!) and I never took Greek and I can never remember the Code's rules about gender agreement.
