as it turns out, there is apparently a paper in the works that will refute burbink's conclusion that "slowinskii" is a full species (these workers apparently will recognize it as a ssp).
however, from lack of specimens, these workers will again not address northern populations (i.e. E OK, Ark, MO, IL). the reseach is using DNA . . . and they would need shedskins, scale clippings, or blood samples.
