Lampropeltis mexicana thayeri

I got 3 of these gorgeous snakes from a very respectable fellow who called them variable MILKS and recently got 3 more from another fellow who calls them variable KINGS..
same taxonomic name.....
futher reading shows they are also called
Thayers Kingsnake and Nuevo Leon Kingsnake

It looks like they where originally classified as milks and then changed to kings.

Can anyone point me to some info on this?
