He may know of someone within the membership that can show you how to handle a rattlesnake safely.Rubers generally are fairly mellow snakes, but since they are venomous, they should be respected as such. If you intend upon keeping hots, invest in a good pair of tongs and a snake hook.Midwest Products has some good ones.Freehandling is discouraged. An enclosure with a locked lid
is recommended, even better if it has a trapbox built in to facilitate cage cleaning.Never put prey in its enclosure with your hand.Use long feeding tongs because it may accidentally strike you while feeding.
