When I was little(about 9yrs.)the neighbor kids would catch lizards and some were too rough, killing them in the end. There was one i remember got the breath knocked out of him,nd he was lifeless,no breath, limp. I used cpr on it and brought it back to life.
My first snake(over the summer only cuz its illegal to have native non venimous snakes) was a kngsnake that my dad found 2yr. ago. A male was folowing it. We stuck them together, let them breed, and i kept the female. She laid eggs.I incubated them and a couple months later hatched 9babys,and let them all go.
Oh yeah, around the same time (when i was 9)I lived in cuba and collected various lizard eggs for fun and when they hatched,I let them all go. Got one hatchling on videotape. One I found was an egg of the cuban tree anole(LG.lizard). Kept her in a terrerium &fed her locusts, other smaller lizards, grasshoppers, etcc all handcaught cuz they didnt have a petstore there. My dad even had a 11ft boa he handcaught, and we would go in caves and catch bats, baby birds, and other sm animals to feed it.We have pic's of him. It was friendly. Before we moved He let it go. By the way,the cuban anoles in the petstores arent as pretty OR healthy looking as the ones in the wild like the one I had. And the babys are adorable! they have big fat heads. raised from a hatchling they CAN be friendly.
