I'm an early childhood teacher and avid herpetoculturist who has a pair of corn snakes in the classroom. My kids (3 year-olds) love to watch them eat and slither. It was quite the event
when the female laid eggs (unfortunately the school year ended and the eggs are hatching in my incubator at home.)
One day we had a visitor who was role playing with a snake puppet. One of the girls informed her, "That's not a real snake. We have real snakes. They eat wet mice--I'll show them to you."
After a.seeing the snakes and b.hearing the explanation of "wet mice" the woman never came to visit again. She also declined my invitation to see what my collection at home eats (lol). Two of the families (including the above girl) will be adopting baby corns.
