This is a true story: July 11, 1999, one night after 2 days of rain in the Anza Borrego Desert. Right at dusk, about 8 miles north of Scissors crossing, They're it was, a beautiful Kingsnake approximately 3.5 ft. in length, crossing the road. When it noticed me it's pace picked up, I grabbed him. I usually catch and release and have done so over 500 times prior to this but upon further evaluation I noticed it was missing an eye and it appeared as though it had been gouged out, possibly from a bird?. I also noticed he was quite thin. I decided to keep him. When I tried to feed him small fuzzies he had a hell of a time locating his food and when he did finally find it he wasn't very interested. I have since found out he has an appetite for other snakes so now I scent my mice for him. He's doing quite we'll thank you and is being cooled down for the winter. I think i'll keep him. I will post a picture of him later. THX>
