Wild Caught

I was in a Canadian Petsmart store the other day and noticed some obvious loooking wild caught reptiles (Thin, scars, missing tails, etc). When I asked an employee if these werewild caught (like I needed verification) she said that they certainly were. This would not be such a huge problem with me (with the amount of pet stores that sell WC) except that they had signs around the store that stated that they only selll captive bred animals to keep from depleting wild animal populations. Correct me if I am wrong but doen't captive bred mean bred and born under CAPTIVE conditions? I did not know that mother nature provided those conditions that herpers term captive.
