You'll Never catch snakes on bridges...

: I was a REAL rookie... : An experieced collector was taking me cruising : down it S.Texas. We had been before and always seen : lots of snakes.... Our conversation during the hunt : turned to talk about snake movements, i.e. why do they : cross the road at night how far out on the concrete/asphalt : would they get before they realised they werent in habitat etc. : During this conversation I in my infinite rookie wisdom : stupidly declared " Snakes are never found on bridges"... : It seems as if god was listening and laughingly reached : down to smite yours truly... not 30 seconds had passed : , we crossed an 80ft long bridge and lo & behold, right smack : in the middle of the bridge, the middle of the road sat : a 4 foot long emorys rat snake... : The moral of this story... man should NEVER put his "rules" : on what animals will and won't do.... : Moral # 2 .... rookies should spend more time looking, and : less time talking :
