I told her 'there's no such beast'. She said that it was about a foot long and bumpy and black (mostly)
I got out Cogger's book and went through the two species it might be...
I figured Egernia depressa or Tiliqua rugosa. She thought it might be the latter, but for $150. I thought not.
I decided to head up to the shop to take a look. When I got there, my jaw nearly hit the floor, there was a beautiful
Shingleback Skink! I had the proprietor get it out and it seemed to be in excellent health.
My (ex)wife asked if it was the $2000. lizard that I had told her about.
Trying not to sound too excited, I told her that it was. Needless to say, I bought it right then and there.
I was unable to keep it long, and so it was sold for $500. cash and $350. worth of snakes.
It just goes to show you that pet stores and their ignorance aren't always bad :)
