I have a trap I set by my shed to catch rats and mice.
It is about 6x6x18 inches. My first night setting it I caught 7 young rats. My beagle was excited as she is a brave hunting dog.As I was dumping them from the trap to my 5 gallon bucket one jumped side ways and made a run for it. My trusty rat dog caught it for me.At this point I would mention that I feed the wild rats only to wild caught snakes. I feed my captive hatched only domestic mice. This trap was a good investment because the second night I caught 4 more rats.My dog was watching closely for one to try to escape none did this time.I didn't catch anything for awhile after that. When I did catch something it was a small possum that just barely fit into the trap. Now as I was trying to remove it from the trap my dog was watching excitedly. When I finally dumped it on the ground my dog sat down and looked at me as to say this one's all yours.
