Question about behavior

I have a ball phython allegedly about 5 years old. She is fairly tame, and can be held, worn, petted, and likes to hide on the videotape stacks. Sometimes after I feed her she seems to be stuck in predatory mode for a week or so and has struck at me a couple of times. Does anybody know why this would happen?
