A few years ago a friend and I were road cruising late
at night in south Texas when we spotted a snake and skidded
to a stop, just past the snake. I jumped out and bolted
around the back of the vehicle, when a "sixth sense"
made me stop just before running out in front of an
18-wheeler coming in the opposite direction at 70 mph
or better. If I hadn't stopped my casket would've had
to have been sized to fit a Kenworth radiator. It was
closer than it sounds, and this brush with splatterhood
led to much speculation on whether anyone has actually
gotten killed road hunting, or, to a lesser degree, been
injured, had their vehicle busted up, or other variations
on the same theme. Any good stories out there? They
can even be true!
