Questions about a Gold Rim Softshell

I have a gold rim softshell whose about 2inches long. It's doing great. How can I tell if it is a male or female? Also, will it eat floating pellets? As of right now, it's eating guppies. How long will it live for? How big will it get? How long will it take it to reach it's full size? Also, where are they found amd are they common. Thanks a lot in advance to whoever replies to these questions.
