The common Pelochelys that is most frequently imported has been reclassified as Pelochelys cantori. Pelochelys bibroni is now applied to a more colorfully marked rarer species with a much more limited range. No, I have never heard of Pelochelys showing any interest in vegetble mater. They tend to be "ambush" fish predators and strike like a Mata Mata while concealed in sand.
