I had 8 of these guys at one time and I never knew them to be anything but carnivorous. Mine only took live fish...like most of the other "blunt head" softshells. But...just like most other animals, there are always some oddballs that like unusual types of food. I suppose anything's possible. But my experience (and the literature) all say carnivorous.
