: Please mail me with any information on societies in SC. I am in the Spartanburg/Greenville area.

There used to be an organization called the SC Herpetological Society (SCHS) founded by Whit Gibbons (U. of Ga./ Savannah River Ecology Lab), Stephen Bennett (SC Wildlife and Marine Resources Dept.), Scott Pfaff (Riverbanks Zoo) and some other folks. Its now dufunct due to lack of interest. There is still an organization based in Charleston called the Coastal Carlolina Herpetocultural Society. I haven't been to one of their meetings in many years, though. I can give you the number of one of the officers if you're interested. There is an excellent herp club (North Carolina Herpetological Society) based in Raleigh. They've been in existence for well over ten years. I wish someone would take the initiative and restart the SCHS.
