Mr. Phew-- The white skin is okay as long as it doesn't start looking "fuzzy" or "mushy" and as long as it doesn't show signs of spreading. Just make sure the tail gets dried out on a regular basis (if he doesn't bask on his own). Get the RES the HELL OUT OF THERE! They are notorious tail nippers and they'll trash any cool turtles that you have in with them. --Maxx
