im just using my video camera. it has a de-interlaced mode which takes great stills. but the real secret is lighting and depth-of-field. when outdoors late afternoon light is good because its very soft and even, combined with a narrow DOF, makes for great pics. indoors, its all about using a good, bright-yet soft, key light. i used a 150 watt heat lamp bounced off a white board, and used 2 100w heat lamps as secondary lights. also, the best way to get good sharp focus is to zoom into the eyes, get your focus, and pull back to your shot. im sure id get better results from a dedicated diggy still camera (cough, cough, Nikon D1), but for right now im ok, im not making prints or anything.
