Dee-- I think either metal or poly would work fine. I was just down at John Richards' place and he has adults in both metal and poly...mostly metal. The advantage of poly is that it won't dent or rust. (Most aquarium heaters will not melt them...but some 1500 watt stock tank heaters and some 1500 watt pond heaters will melt them.) The advantage of metal is that they are cheap. Any fleet and farm supply place has them in stock. Of course, if you live in a state where the water won't freeze solid, you can just hibernate the Alligator Snappers. Hope that gives you some things to think about. --Maxx
