I was in a Petsmart store yesterday and found a huge, one-piece, above-ground waterfall / pond end-cap display made by a company called Nature's Partner. It was a fabricated rock looking thing with a 5-6 foot tall back where the waterfall was. The holding area below was about 150 gallons. They had a bunch of koi in it. The fake rock around the pond area had a nice overhang that would keep snappers from escaping and give them a little hiding place. There is a pick of something similar to this on their web site at http://www.naturespartnerllc.com/images/water5.jpg
I just spoke with them about creating a bigger unit with the same design (5X6X2 with a lower waterfall section). I'll get a price in the next couple of days. The Petsmart people will begin selling the one I saw for $4,000-$5,000 next year. It looked awesome. Another company has similar products at pamagarden.com for around $1,400 which would work for smaller turtles.
