I think alligator snappers have to be around 15 years old. I'm not 100% sure about that but I think its in the right ballpark. I would imagine that common snappers might hit sexual maturity a few years earlier (10-12?).
:I have two common snappers curently and absolutely love them to death. The male is constantly mounting the female, so much so that i had to seperate them into two seperate enclosures. My ? has to do with breeding. The thing is the males is 2.5 years old, and the female is 3. Are they even sexually mature? I thought it took them a much longer time to reach maturity than that! Any way when the time does come i want to breed them, since it appears there won't be any kind of problem! How do you go about this process succesfully?
