::today while cleaning out my alligator snapping turtles aquarium i placed him in a plastic crate for about 30 minutes. when putting him back i noticed that he had broken the very tip of his lower jaw off. he must have some how bitten the crate and .......? it was bleeding a little, and kinda fleshy at the wound. my guy has a shell length of 10-12 inches so he isn't a hatchling that needs worrying about..but, is this something that will heal on its own? is there anything i can do to help it heal? and don't laugh, but will this grow back. thanks for your help.

:ive seen many wild and captive ally snappers break the tips of their jaw hooks. they are very thin at the tips and breakage seems fairly common in wild turtles. id keep the water squeaky clean and check the turtle everyday or every other day for saftey's sake. other than that, theres not much to do.
