Snapper readly get stuff build up on the carapace's old skin, mud, ect...... if you have noticed it keeps producing more shedded skin over say two weeks probably growing too fast eatting too much. But if it hasn't come off and its seems to be the same amount there is nothing wrong with that cause snapper are often slow moving and its comes off after awhile but it really doesn't matter how long it takes.
