I'm pretty sure this is a common snapper, for two reasons: #1: the head appears to be shaped differently than most of the larger alligator snappers i've seen #2: it was caught out of the range map of alligator snappers.

I have never messed with larger alligator snappers or common snappers up close before. That's why I just need a confirmation on what it is. He's about 11" or 12" and isn't scared of anyone! It's charged at me on the ground, even when I was about 5-6 ft away from it lol.

Anyway, i've had it about a week, and it took its first meal yesterday morning.
