All of them had expired by the next morning except one. I'll buy a pound at a time from now on. They looked pretty weak at the Seafood place and then they went for a ride in an airtight plastic bag for a while. I'm not sure what killed them. I did a 90% water change the next day. It was the first water change since getting my stock tank a couple of months ago. The filter has been keeping the water fairly clear. But the big log makes it have a tea colored tint. The ph was probably way wacky.
I noticed some crushed crawfish near my turtle's normal spot but I suspect that he crushed some dead ones in the course of his movements rather than having actually consumed any. About 12 of the dead crawfish have floated to the surface each morning since. I scoop em out and toss them in the yard. Talk about some stink.

:Kevin, you might want to watch these crawfish to make sure their not nibbling on Big Red. If he doesn't eat them first, they will see him as a food supply.
